Organization of Activity

Wentworth RAMP (11th and 12th grade)

Wentworth RAMP is a STEM-focused, pre-college summer bridge program for Boston students coming in to Wentworth Institute of Technology as freshmen in the fall.

Activities’ Transition Time

Breakthrough Greater Boston (6th-12th grade)

Breakthrough Greater Boston runs academic programming for middle and high school students year-round. Their summer program involves students taking several classes, run by college-aged Teaching Fellows.

Youth Relations with Peers

Courageous Sailing (4th through 12th grade)

Participants in Courageous Sailing’s summer programs learn teamwork and cooperation through sailing. Students participate year after year and can eventually become Instructors-in-Training.

Space Adequacy

Sociedad Latina STEAM Team (6th, 7th, 8th grade)

Sociedad Latina STEAM Team is a summer learning program for English Language Learner students entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. The program, which is located at Simmons College, is part of the Summer Learning Project, pairing BPS and BASB to prevent summer learning loss. 

Overall Socio-Emotional Environment

Hale Reservation Camp HOLA (4th and 5th grade)

Camp HOLA is a summer program at Hale Reservation for incoming fourth and fifth graders, blending academics with outdoor learning and enrichment. It is part of the Summer Learning Project that was established with BPS and BASB to reduce summer learning loss and to close the achievement gap.

Informal Time: General Staff Performance

Horizons (Pre K-8th grade)

Horizons is a summer program for students entering Pre-K through 8th grades. Located at Dedham Country Day School, Horizons is dedicated to providing students from low-income families with summer enrichment and opportunity.

Informal Time: Youth Engagement and Behavior

Brigham and Women’s Hospital/CCHHE: Summer Science Academy (9th grade)

Summer Science Academy is a science learning and paid work program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for students entering ninth grade in the fall.

Youth Feel Challenged

Tierney Learning Center (4th and 5th grade)

The Tierney Learning Center is part of the Summer Learning Project that was established with BPS and BASB. The program serves students from the Tynan, Dever, and Perkins schools.

Supportive Adults Present

Zoo New England (4th and 5th grade)

Students at the Franklin Park Zoo’s summer learning program learn about wildlife and conservation through hands-on learning at the zoo, as well as math and ELA curricula. Zoo New England is part of the Summer Learning Project, partnering with BPS and BASB to prevent summer learning loss.

Helps Youth Academically

Achieve is a three-year, year-round program for Boston middle school students. Students apply and are accepted to the program at Noble and Greenough School where they are provided with high-quality education and help navigating the high school application process.
